About the Artist
I am a self-taught photographer, beginning with a hand-me-down camera from my father, and a well-worn copy of The Family of Man on my parents’ bookshelf. My love of photography has always been closely tied to a love of travel and observing places and the people who live there - both close to home and abroad.
My photos have appeared previously in South x Southeast, Lenscratch exhibitions and LensWork online, and in juried exhibits and galleries in Atlanta and elsewhere in Georgia and the Southeast: Slow Exposures, Decatur Fine Arts Exhibition, Atlanta Celebrates Photography, Atlanta Photography Group, The Bowen Center, LaGrange Southeast Regional, Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Johns Creek Art Center, Callanwolde, Montgomery (AL) Photo Festival, and Georgia Council for the Arts. My work is held in private and public collections.
I have lived in Atlanta since 1989 and share a home with my husband and cat. I continue to work one day a week at the Microbiology Laboratory at Grady Memorial Hospital after my retirement.
My photography attempts to capture the essence of ordinary people, places and things, to see them with fresh eyes and reveal them in a new way. I am drawn to quirkiness and eccentricity and to out-of-the-way places - the “blue lines” on the map.
